Many years ago a friend purchased a house with a  formal garden and  I was overwhelmed at the plants, pots and statues there.  Where I live it freezes and that was not possible for me to have but about that time a friend gave me a 12  x 12 greenhouse----my life changed.  I could grow all those lovely tropical plants in pots on the patio and take them into the greenhouse for winter  which  I did for over 5  years, then I built a new home with a greenhouse of more square footage than the living area and I live in the middle of it. With that move I did not have enough pots!  There was no source of different colors and sizes of pots at that time and I started making my own pots.  Another thing changed my life when I saw my first BROMELIAD........what a different plant, and then there were so many different ones that I have never gotten over that and now grow many varieties..  In the summer months we hope we  will have varieties to share with  others. By growing plants in containers you can have a great variety, move them at your will, and can control the maintenance much more than growing in the ground. I am addicted...........definitely to pots and plants,  and as with all addictions I must share in order to support my habbit.........
